Susan has been working as a Remedial Massage Therapist for eight years, and has completed her Bachelor of Health Science in Clinical Myotherapy. She has vast experience, working with many people of all different ages and sizes, with all different types of bodies and injuries (acute and chronic). What she loves the most about her job is the infinite learning and bettering of oneself in the manual bodywork field that comes with understanding the human body, its pain mechanisms, and applying this to her patients. She also has extended interests in exercise, nutrition and pharmacology, and has matured into a therapist that likes to treat and look at the body as a whole, and not just hone in on the specific area of pain to relieve it.
During a treatment, Susan likes to constantly retest movements that are painful and/or restricted to monitor if there is improvement, which improves specificity and efficiency of the patient’s response to the treatment. She also uses these outcome measures to determine if there is a need for referral to ensure maximum care for the patient.
“Educating and guiding my patients to become the best that they can be is incredibly rewarding and exciting for me. I have a very caring nature and a great passion for learning about the human body, which shines through my work and positively impacts my patients’ sense of well-being. I joke that I have never worked a day in my life – because I love what I do so much, it doesn’t feel like work.”
Suze and the team are amazing! I go for regular treatments to keep my body maintained which allows me to work 40 hour weeks and go to the gym 5 times a week! I highly recommend these guys!
I don’t give out recommendations lightly as Preston Physiotherapy has a reputation to uphold. However, after ten years of knowing this delightful lady as a dear friend, and after two years of getting MANY myotherapy, remedial massage and other treatments, from various locations I decided to take the drive to visit Susan Nichols for the first time. And thank heavens I did. I went in for a one hour session and walked out pain free and have full range of motion for the first time in years. From a clinical perspective, her skills are outstanding. Regardless of how long we have been friends Susan was professional and caring, just what I look for in a practitioner! I will now be visiting her once a fortnight – the drive is worth it. So if you are anywhere near Elsternwick or Port Melbourne. Book in. It’s definitely worth it!
Amazing. I’ve had neck problems for over 3 years and have been to countless of specialists. This has been the only place that actually took me seriously and actively tried to combat my symptoms. Unsurprisingly, they are the only place that has had any success in relieving pain.
Definitely recommend for anyone experiencing back/neck issues.
