Susan has been working as a Remedial Massage Therapist for eight years, and has completed her Bachelor of Health Science in Clinical Myotherapy. She has vast experience, working with many people of all different ages and sizes, with all different types of bodies and injuries (acute and chronic). What she loves the most about her job is the infinite learning and bettering of oneself in the manual bodywork field that comes with understanding the human body, its pain mechanisms, and applying this to her patients. She also has extended interests in exercise, nutrition and pharmacology, and has matured into a therapist that likes to treat and look at the body as a whole, and not just hone in on the specific area of pain to relieve it.
During a treatment, Susan likes to constantly retest movements that are painful and/or restricted to monitor if there is improvement, which improves specificity and efficiency of the patient’s response to the treatment. She also uses these outcome measures to determine if there is a need for referral to ensure maximum care for the patient.
“Educating and guiding my patients to become the best that they can be is incredibly rewarding and exciting for me. I have a very caring nature and a great passion for learning about the human body, which shines through my work and positively impacts my patients’ sense of well-being. I joke that I have never worked a day in my life – because I love what I do so much, it doesn’t feel like work.”
